Sainte-Dorothée is a neighbourhood in western Laval, Quebec.

It is named in honour of Dorothée de Césarée.

On August 9, 1869, the municipality of Sainte-Dorothée was formed by detachment from that of the parish of Saint-Martin.

The municipality of the parish of Sainte-Dorothée had already divided in 1947; faced with the possibility of a tax increase, the village of Sainte-Dorothée had been incorporated as a municipality. Twelve years later, in 1959, the municipalities of the parish and the village of Sainte-Dorothée were united and formed the city of Sainte-Dorothée.

The neighbourhood is generally made up of residential neighbourhoods and agricultural and wooded areas. However, several large shopping centres are located along Highway 13. Sainte-Dorothée also includes the majority of the only permanent agricultural areas in the west of the island.

Sainte-Dorothée is bordered by Laval-sur-le-Lac to the west, Laval-Ouest to the northwest, Fabreville to the northeast, Chomedey to the east and Îles-Laval and the Rivière des Prairies.
